SUPERTONE RECORDS

“Supertone runs a boutique record label based in London, England, manages artists and manufacturers hand wired amplifiers, speaker cabinets, cables and FX for guitar and bass. Our analogue recording studio - the Supertone SonicLab - offers recording and production services for both client’s and its own stable of artists.”

Suzy Starlite and Simon Campbell by Phil Kneen

Suzy and Simon initially set up the Supertone Records label to distribute their own music, but later decided to open it up to other like-minded artists.

Having been bitten by big labels in the past, they wanted to make sure that Supertone artists retain as much of the money that comes through the door as possible. There are no written contracts, simply relying on trust and honesty (holy moly).

Most music produced by Supertone is released on vinyl, but regardless of the way you listen, it's made with loving care, bringing you the sound and pure essence of the artist with no digital jiggery pokery.

So, here you will find all our artists with links to music, photos, videos and the ability to support them sustainably by visitng their individual sites but if you want to check out the music and merchandise, check out our shop and enjoy!!!

ALL ABOUT CABLES

One of the most important items in a guitar or bass player's armoury are cables. They are the least expensive way to dramatically improve your tone.

Supertone MinCap cables are designed for the working musician. They are very robust with silent plugs (to prevent the crunch when you unplug) and ultra-low capacitance cable making sure the full sound of your cherished instrument is sent to your amplifier; perfect for passive guitars and basses.

CABLES FOR HIGH IMPEDANCE INSTRUMENTS

If you are using a guitar or bass with standard magnetic pickups the main issue for deterioration of your tone is the capacitance of the cable. The greater the capacitance per meter the more top end you will lose as essentially the cable is acting as a tone control; the longer the cable, the more top end roll-off you will hear.

Almost all FX Pedals change the high impedance signal from the instrument to a low impedance signal which is not subject to deterioration by cable capacitance. So, provided the effect is turned on (i.e.and not bypassed) you do not need our Supertone MinCap cable to link your FX. If however, you have a series of FX with true bypass and you sometimes bypass all the FX, you will need our cable on every connection and onto the amplifier.

Supertone has sourced the lowest capacitance cable in the world manufactured by SOMMER Cable in Germany. It is rugged and worthy of any stage. We have a choice of Neutrik angle or straight gold plated 'silent' jack plugs and as our cables are hand-wired, you can have whatever length or type of jack plug you like!

HISTORY

Supertone Records Valencia, Spain

2014-2017 VALENCIA, Spain

Suzy and Simon set up the first Supertone studio in Estivella, close to Valencia, Spain. It was a world class residential facility centred around a Trident Vector mixing console.

It was here that they recorded the Starlite Campbell Band 's debut album, 'Blueberry Pie' which went on to be an international success and nominated for a European Blues award in 2017.

This success prompted the couple to close the studio to turn their attention to touring with the band.

2019-2020 Thören, Germany

The second iteration was in the hamlet of Thören in Germany. Here they recorded the majority of their second studio album 'The Language Of Curiosity'.

COVID hit and everything ground to a halt.

2020-2024 Samora Correia, Portugal

During a small window in the COVID lockdown and just before BREXIT the third iteration was created. Here they had many clients and completed 'The Language Of Curiosity' and recorded and released 'STARLITE.ONE'.
